• cry at the sun

Sunburnt!
Hate!

Well, I saved the corn.

But now am sunburnt.

This is a bad week and a half for my body's health.

Urg.

[Went outside 'briefly' to get some sun tea. Was filling up tea with a bit more water, decided to water the garden. Hose went bonkers and knocked over my corn seedlings (which I was hoping to plant in the evening today or tomorrow to avoid the deathly sun) and so I had to stop everything and plant them. Got inside, sweaty and covered in dirt/mud plaster to discover I was quite burnt =\ Argh. But the corn is OK!]

• Merf?

so, yeah, I suck at keep this thing active.

So, why the heck doesn't the US use the metric system?
I'm dealing lately with a production company in China, and have to spend a great deal of time converting and this sucks.

If we'd been raised using the metric system [along with the rest of the bloody world] then we'd all think in the same terms and be able to communicate much better.

Bleh to stupid British empire leftover bullshit.

In other news, I was rereading the Potter series, cause I had the time and couldn't remember much, as a friend of ours is taking us out to see the new movie soon [and to dinner, belated birthingdaygifts] but Mark asked to get to the one [number 5?] that's actually of the film just as I got to that number.

So now I'm reading his new book in exchange. It's Deep Economy, a really awesome book. A lot of what he's saying I knew already from numerous other sources and such, but seeing it all together in one place is nice and he does have a lot of insights I've not heard before.

Also, I know most other folk in America do not have this information. Or refuse to acknowledge it.

I really want to encourage others to buy/rent/borrow this book and read it. It's that necessary/good.

• Space and Perception

http://kevan.org/nohari?name=Kailing
Go there. Do this for me. Id really appreciate it--I want to see how I am viewed by others of my social circles, and how each circles's perceptions differ. It's greatly helpful to me. Do not feel bad, just be honest, I will not be offended, and truly wish to know.

http://kevan.org/johari?name=Baikailing
And look. To balance that out so you don't feel bad, there's a more positive spin one here.

So, Im finally moved into the room Im renting in the Bronx.

Ive even slept in it twice now.

Its so great having a bed.

Futons do not cut it, no matter what others say.

When I next move, Im definately buying a bed, even though they are hugely expensive. I think it is worth it.

Going to pick up the deposit from the old place today after work. Mer. It is sad that that place hasnt worked out, and possibly won't now. It appears the fellow who was gonna live there has now decided after all the hassle to stay and live in Florida. So his sister is moving into the part he was going to. Ive not met her. Half the reason I liked the place was Steve seemed so cool, so earnest, so young, and fun to live with. But some random sister? I dunno. Girls are way harder to live with than guys. Mer. Well, we shall see what she is made of.

And Ive been informed that I scan as unhappy. Well, not scan as. More like...due to my mentioning and/or sadly remarking and/or complaining on some various aspects of my life that I need to change [living arrangements, jobage to be specific] people think Im unhappy. Mind you, not all people. Not people who actually know me [and use the word unhappy in the same way I do] but people I care about nonetheless.

SO, yah, I want to change this, but it is not easy to work into casual conversation that you love yourself, your body, your friends, your boyfriend, your city, and the general direction your life is headed in. I suppose I shall have to work on that.
